Regular Executive Board Meeting Number 16-5, 19 May, 2016, at Artserve

Meeting called to order at 11:00 AM. Present: Bertolet, Satterwhite, Apana, Dixon, Reskin, van Eck; Aron, Kleiman, Michels absent.

MMC to approve minutes of April 14, 2016 meeting.

Secretary-Treasurer's Report: presentation of expense report, membership rolls, bank balance data, and new members. Apana reported on correspondence from AFM re TV and Phono negotiations and appointment to Election Committee; Armshaw/AFLCIO re desire to meet. Apana reported on reviewing Thalia album jacket and missing report forms for string sessions; on suspended members.

VP Report: Receipt of written report. Satterwhite reported on drafting letters to inform public about Oliva ULP; email response from Oliva re ULP; preparation for BAA hiring list review; conversations with musicians re Turley gigs paying better.

President's Report: receipt of written report. Bertolet requested that committees be more aggressive about meeting and being active.

New Business: MMC (moved by Apana) to create category for live local TV broadcast of live engagement and establish rate of $20 for two broadcasts within 30 days, consistent with the existing language of the Local Broadcast Media Agreement, and contingent upon a local agreement being filed and local scales paid for the live engagement.

Good and Welfare: Discussion of HMI, including activities such as gigs in Orlando and with Feinstein and Cavanaugh, that some gigs pay $65 for two 4-hour rehearsals and a concert, and that the Mizner Festival performance paid $200 for rehearsals and performance. Discussion of meeting with Paul Frank, including Local's desire to be more energized and publicly vocal as musician advocates, and desire for Frank to return in August or September. Discussion of ACO. Apana noted that the Wick Theater has been purchased and they desire to use live music in the future.
