PROPOSAL TO AMEND THE BYLAWS:
Whereas a petition signed by 65 members in good standing has expressed a desire to eliminate the $1000 Life Insurance Benefit currently provided by the Local, as well as the annual Life Insurance Assessment (currently $30), In accordance with Local 655 Bylaws, Article XIII, be it
Resolved to amend the Bylaws by deleting Article XIX, GROUP LIFE INSURANCE, in its entirety.
The Bylaw Committee recommends adoption.
The Bylaw Committee used the following facts to arrive their decision:
Premium is expensive for the amount of coverage received.
The Local shouldn't require members to pay for insurance.
Life Insurance has nothing to do with our mission statement.
Local 655 members are getting more money out of the insurance then they are putting in.
Some members have been paying dues for over 35 years deserve coverage.
Some members might resign if the benefit was eliminated.
