I was deeply saddened by the news of Christine Nield's passing. She was a wonderful flautist and a wonderful person. I felt that she stood for the highest standards of music making, and was a person of true artistic integrity. We will all miss her.
The musical world has lost a great artist. I had the privilege to study with Christine in the summer of 1993 and will always remember her for her wisdom and guidance.
I am so sorry to hear of Christine's death. She affected many musicians as an an artist and a teacher.
I am so so sorry that I did not keep contact with Christine after graduating from UM. She wasn't just a wonderful flute instructor...she was a woman i deeply admired, respected, and never wanted to let down because she was so committed to me as her student.
