Introducing Intern Jeremy Swearin

For those of you who are unaware, Local 655 has a new music intern who will be studying with the staff through September 2009. Jeremy Swearin was a high school music educator, and a graduate of Bethune-Cookman College (B.A. Music Ed), Berklee College of Music (Certificate in Music Business), and Blackstone Career Institute (Certificate in Paralegal/Legal Assistant). Currently, Jeremy is working on his Masters in Entertainment Business through Full Sail University.

Over the next year, Jeremy will be studying under Secretary-Treasurer Apana and staff, to gain a strong understanding about Local 655 and its purpose. Thus far, he has covered a plethora of information ranging from: history of the AFM, history of Local 655, overview of AFM and 655 By-laws, structure and oversight of nonprofit corporations, Roberts Rules procedures, an overview of the NLRA, and discussion of tax laws. In addition, Jeremy has pledged to pick the brains of Apana and Administrative Assistant Bob North and learn the inside and out of local organization.

Thus far, Jeremy has assisted the Local in crating an active Facebook account and we encourage all of you to join Facebook, as it is a great tool for sharing the Local's mission statement and objectives with the public. Jeremy will also look for additional ways to enhance, attract, and create ways to recruit new members and expose the union to more local entertainment events.

Feel free to contact Jeremy at Jeremyls79[at]gmail[dot]com or on Facebook through Jeremyls79. He looks forward to learning more about our organization and meeting many of the talented members of Local 655.
