CORE Alliance Announces Teach-In on December 14

Have you waited months to be paid? Feel like you are not treated with respect on the job? Had your gig cancelled at the last minute and not get paid for it? Join with other workers to learn how to keep from being abused.

Join the CORE Alliance at a Teach-In As We Lift Our Voices Together for Workers’ Rights!

The new Community Outreach & Rights Education (CORE) Alliance brings together community groups and labor union constituency groups dedicated to workers’ rights. CORE is fighting to establish a Miami-Dade Labor Standards Co-Enforcement Fund -- funding to support outreach and rights education for workers vulnerable to abuses -- workers who don’t know their rights, workers who fear retaliation, workers whose hours make it hard to seek help.

The Teach-In will bring union and community activists together for an all-day training that focuses on the “Future of Work” with key components focused on stewardship of community, solidarity and strategy as well as transgender awareness.

Together participants will help develop a 2020 Survey on the “Future of Work” that includes what people see as the issues affecting their lives (wages, security, retaliation, discrimination, health & safety, benefits and more) and what people don’t know about the broader labor movement and local worker rights.

Breakfast, lunch and snacks provided for participants throughout the day.
