Nabisco workers ended a month-long strike with a new four-year contract.

Workers successfully fought 12-hour shifts and a two-tier health care plan. They will continue to receive premium pay for working more than 8 hours in a day or for working on weekends.

Staff and adjunct faculty at the University of Florida have formed the union United Campus Workers of Florida. They are fighting for job security and better pay. Currently adjunct faculty contracts expire every semester and they would like longer contracts and more transparency with hiring and firing.

University of California lecturers are preparing to strike after 96 percent voted to authorize one. They are fighting for job security and better pay. Their median income is only $19,000 per year and half of them do not work enough hours to qualify for medical benefits. They are also hired on only one-year contracts with no guarantees of being rehired.
