The Major League Soccer Players Association is now part of the AFL-CIO.

The new affiliate joins baseball, football, and basketball players who are already part of the AFL-CIO.

A National Labor Relations Board judge has ruled that Amazon violated labor law. The judge said that Amazon unlawfully threatened wage increases and benefits to entice workers to vote against unionization.

A National Labor Relations Board regional director has said that some YouTube Music subcontractors are actually employees of Google. The workers are employed by Google contractor Cognizant, and the ruling means that Cognizant and Google are joint employers. Google employs more subcontractors than direct employees, making it difficult for the workers to win union representation with Google itself rather than the subcontractor. If this ruling is upheld, it will force Google to recognize the workers' right to union representation.

A review of National Labor Relations Board data from 2019 through 2022 found that employers are charged with violating labor law in almost 40 percent of union elections. The employers were generally charged with illegally firing employees, threatening retaliation, or illegally disciplining employees who were seeking union representation.

The Animation Guild is seeking to represent production coordinators, managers, and supervisors at Encanto and Wish studio. The workers requested voluntary recognition in February and are now seeking an election with the National Labor Relations Board. They hope to secure better pay and portable health care that will give their jobs a more viable career path.
