The Nonprofit Industry generates $134 billion in economic activity each year:
$53.2 billion in direct spending
$80.8 billion in spending by audiences on parking, hotels, restaurants, etc.
$24.4 billion in tax revenue
$1.4 billion in activity in the state of Florida
This is in contrast to just $3 billion in government spending on the arts— an 8-to-1 return!
The Nonprofit Industry also supports:
4.85 million full-time equivalent jobs (including 1/4 million musicians and singers)
$89.4 billion in household income
The arts are also a cornerstone of tourism and help to heal in times of crisis. As Florida slashes its arts funding and moves from one of the most generous states in its support of the arts to one of the least generous, it will have a devastating effect on the health of the state.
Let your representatives know that the arts are important!
