Scholarships Available for Graduating Seniors
South Florida Musicians Association and the Music Performance Fund are offering two $750 scholarships to graduating high school seniors who will be majoring in Instrumental Music, Music Education, Composition, or Sound Recording / Industry Studies at an accredited college or university.
Music Scholarship 2007 Rules & Eligibility Requirements
Applicant must be a graduating high school senior who plans to enroll in an accredited college to major in an Instrumental Music or, if majoring in Music Education, Composition or Sound Recording / Industry Studies, they must be studying an instrument as a minor. Student must be actively involved in music, playing in school bands, community orchestras, etc.
- Application properly completed and submitted by due date (1/31/2007).
- There are two rounds of judging; a preliminary round and a final performance round.
- Preliminary Round: Applications will be reviewed by a panel of AFM Local 655 professional musicians and teachers for advancement of the leading candidates to the final round.
- Final Round: Candidates will be judged on performance, solo or with accompanist (not provided), and may include sight-reading.
- Date, time and location of Final Round will be announced after the Preliminary Round has been completed.
- Scholarships include two (2) $750.00 grants, one in the classical genre and one in the jazz genre.
- Decision of the judges, and amount awarded, is subject to final approval by the Recording Industries Music Performance Fund.
