Members Adopt New Policies
At the membership meeting on February 27, the membership adopted a number of new policies proposed from the floor by members present at the meeting.
The proposals adopted include:
- to propose amendments to the AFM Bylaws to provide for members of traveling orchestras in residence to pay work dues to the Local in whose jurisdiction the performance lies, rather than to their home Local.
- to bill Local 4 for work dues collected from the Cleveland Orchestra/Miami City Ballet joint performance.
- to remind Local 655 Contractors to hire Local 655 members first.
- to have the Local hold quarterly networking events similar to NARAS' Second Tuesdays.
The adoption of these policies shows how the democratic process can shape the direction of the Local, and we applaud those members who attended the meeting and participated in shaping the future of the Local.
