That Union Thing
The Florida Legislature is again proposing to
tie teacher pay to student performance. Under the proposed legislation, student performance on assessment tests and principal evaluations would count equally in annual determinations of raises and dismissals. Also proposed is the elimination of tenure for new teachers. Teachers' unions claim that testing does not necessarily capture a teacher's worth, and elimination of tenure will do little to attract or retain talented or experienced teachers.
