Did you know that government assistance is available if you have not been paid for work you have performed? Several years ago unions lobbied county governments to help protect workers who were being exploited.
Each of the counties in the tri-county area consider it wage theft if you have not been paid for your work within three weeks and have county ordinances that provide for county assistance in collecting delinquent wages. The policies and procedures are slightly different in each county, and claims should be reported in the county where the work was performed (not where you live or where the employer is based).
