Last month a number of members inquired about collecting their pension benefits. If you work under an AFM contract, you probably have pension benefits accruing, and you can begin collecting them as early as age 55, or with full benefits at 65. It will take a month or two to process paperwork before you can begin receiving checks, so you should plan ahead. We’d be happy to answer basic questions at the office, but to apply or for information about your specific account, you should contact the Pension Fund directly: https://afm-epf.org/Participants/ParticipantInformation.aspx

Last month, President Hawley spoke to students at Miami Dade College and held a few Brews & Bylaws get-togethers. Secretary-Treasurer Apana attended the Broward County State of the Arts. Broward County was one of the few that maintained arts funding this year, and the Cultural Affairs department will celebrate its 50th anniversary next year. Both Hawley and Apana also spoke to students at University of Miami last month.
While we did not have a quorum at the membership meeting last month, we did have an interesting conversation about health insurance coverage.
