Last month Palm Beach Opera held auditions for trumpet, violin, and cello. We welcome trumpeter Rob McCabe, violinist Yilian Conception, and cellist Peter Pao to the orchestra! Thanks go to the audition committee members who listened to all of the candidates.
The Palm Beach Opera Orchestra committee held several meetings last month to draft a contract proposal. Negotiations with the Opera should begin soon and we are assisted by AFM negotiator Campbell MacDonald.
President Hawley and Secretary-Treasurer Apana attended the annual meeting of the AFM Southern Conference of Locals last month. Apana also serves as secretary-treasurer of the Southern Conference, and the meeting is an opportunity for AFM officers across the southern region to share information and give support to each other. After the Conference meeting, Hawley attended the AFM Convention, which occurs every three years. More will be reported about these meetings next month.
