We are pleased to announce that we have reached a tentative new three-year agreement with Palm Beach Opera. For the first time, the agreement will include payments for travel and parking. The agreement is subject to ratification by the musicians, which will take place after language is finalized. Thanks go to committee members Greg Miller, Laura Miller, Eric Ohlsson, Katherine Rodriguez, Laura Winters, and Jody Yanow, as well as Local officers Kendra Hawley and Jeffrey Apana and AFM negotiator Campbell MacDonald for the many hours they put in on behalf of the musicians.
Musicians deserve protection from exploitation by artificial intelligence. The AFM believes that musicians deserve consent, credit, and compensation whenever human art is used for AI development, and has launched the Human Made Human Paid campaign in support of those goals.
