House of Blues workers have voted to be represented by IATSE. House of Blues is owned by Live Nation, and this is the first music venue in the franchise to be unionized. Workers hope to secure better working conditions and more predictable schedules.

The Independent Workers Union of Great Britain has accused Rockstar Games of firing workers for union activity. Rockstar claims the 30-40 fired workers, who were union members or attempting to organize a union at Rockstar, were fired for “gross misconduct.”

Detroit Institute of Art employees are asking to be represented by AFSCME. They are seeking respect and dignity at work. AFSCME represents workers at cultural institutions such as the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Art Institute of Chicago.

Starbucks workers at 65 stores in 40 cities walked off the job last month after voting 92 percent in favor of a strike. Starbucks has many unresolved unfair labor practices, including illegally surveilling and punishing workers, as well as safety violations. Workers are hoping a union contract will give them better pay and enough hours to maintain health insurance coverage.
